Is Matt Moore building on shifting sands concerning…’Only One Way’ & Doctrine?

I’ve just found out I’m blocked from Matt Moore’s blog.  I was never notified of this, and no reason given.  I sent Matt an email when I noticed my comment on an entry of his, which was excellent, would not post.  So I thought Matt maybe monitoring my replies.  Nope…… it was not the case. I asked Matt if I was blocked, or being monitored, and if I was, would he be kind enough to let me know, and if possible the reasons why?   I received nothing…….just dead silence.  I’ve been “shunned”.

Due to this “blockage”, I had some thoughts that bothered me concerning the treatment I received and the treatment a commenter named Davide who is of the Roman Catholic faith, did not receive regarding his use of vulgar language, belittling of other commenters, his blasphemous teachings, and his misguided RC views on certain topics.  This man was never warned, nor informed to stop his RC teachings and so-called ‘ministering’.  Matter of fact this man kept informing others “not to take me seriously”, to “ignore me”.  (You will find some of Davide’s comments on my posting titled:’A True Christian Church…..”).  So I decided to search out Matt’s blog to see why this could have happened.  Here are two of Matt’s entries which does shed some light on what Matt is believing.

‘There is Only One Way’ (posted on Dec 7th, 2010)

“(Most of this I got from a sermon from Chuck Pourciau From Broadmoor Baptist in shreveport. You can download the sermon for free on Itunes)”

“80% percent of Americans believe there is more than one way to God and Heaven. 91% of Roman Catholics believe the same thing, along with 68% of Protestant Evangelicals.”

“A lot of people don’t think that there is one true religion. Most people would say that even though the beliefs of religions may be different, the base of most religions is being a good person. A common misconception is that “a lot of religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism) are all true, and its just a personal preference to whichever one you choose. But whichever one you choose will be right as long as you are sincere”. But in all actuality, sincereity has absolutely nothing to do with TRUTH.”

“The problem is, it is impossible for all religions to be right, based on the rule of absolute truth. It is possible for all religions to be wrong, but it is IMPOSSIBLE for all religions to be right. Following is some of the beliefs”

“What do they think about God?”

“Christianity- There is one, eternal God.”

“Judaism- One eternal, just God.”

“Islam- Allah is one eternal god.”

“Mormonism- God was once a man, who later became a god”

“Hinduism- 33 main gods, and as many as 330 million other gods”

“Buddhism- Athiestic religion”

“What do they beleive about man?”

“Christianity- simple, but valuable to God”

“Judaism- man is basically good, but has flaws, and needs to try to improve through suffering.”

“Islam- man is basically good”

“Mormonism- beleive that men can become Gods”

“Hinduism- beleive that man is part of the gods”

“Buddhism- Man is basically good but needs to elminiate all his cravings.”

“What do they think about Jesus?”

“Christianity- fully God and fully man”

“Judaism- Blasphemous human teacher”

“Islam- prophet, not the Son of God”

“Mormonism- an elder brother who became a god”

“Hinduism- a teacher, a guru, did not die for our sins or rise from the dead”

“Buddhism- an enlightened man”

“What do they think about Salvation?”

“Christianity- By knowing God through a relationship with Jesus, by grace through faith.( which is completely different from any other religion)”

“Judaism-though prayer, repentance, and obediance to law”

“Islam-submitting to Allah”

“Mormonism- available only to Mormon’s through obedience to mormon teaching”

“Hinduism- release from the cycle of reincarnation, through yoga and meditation”

“Buddhism- goal of life is Nirvana (eliminate all desires and cravings)”

“What do they think about Heaven?”

“Christianity- a place of eternal joy for those who have received God’s gift of salvation through Jesus”

“Judaism- Most jews dont know there is a heaven, but thoes that do say good people go there”

“Islam-place for those chosen by Allah”

“Mormonism- Exalted place for mormons who become gods or angels”

“Hinduism- free from all desires”

“Buddhism- emptiness, the end of consciousness”

“What do they think about Hell?”

“Christianity- place of eternal torment for those who have rejected Gods love”

“Judaism- place of eternal torment for evil people”

“Islam-for those who have rejected Allah”

“Mormonism- its not really Hell, but the lowest level of Heaven”

“Hinduism- re-incarnation”

“Buddhism- no such thing as sin, so there is no Hell.”

“All of the religions are contradictory. They can’t all be true.”

“Jesus Christ is the only way of Salvation, and the only way to God, and the only way to Heaven. There is no other way.”

“Historians, both Christians and Non-Christians, both agree on a few facts:”

“1) Jesus of Nazareth was a real man who lived in the 1st century.”

“2) Jesus was executed by crucifixtion on a roman cross.”

“3) Days after his burial, the tomb of Jesus was empty (Yes, non-christians agree with this).”

“-If the body was in fact there, they wouldn’t have said “the body has been stolen”. They would have said “Look! the body is RIGHT THERE!””

“4) Even athiest historians agree that many people BELIEVED they saw Jesus alive after his death. A LOT of people. But their (athiest) explanation for this was that they hallucinated. People do have hallucinations in times of high stress or emotional states. And the people were very emotional at the time. And even group hallucinations have been recorded before. But NEVER in all the history of mankind has a group of people hallucinated the SAME THING. People who were scared and running before they saw Jesus resurrected began BOLDLY declaring their faith in the Risen Jesus, even to their own death. Many people were executed for that proclamation. They were willing to go to their deaths for Him. This is a historically recorded fact.”

“What’s the easiest way to explain what happened? HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD.”

“My main reason for sharing this is so that people will understand that all religions are NOT true and they do not lead to the same thing or the same place.”

“I do understand that a lot of people havent really chosen a “religion”. I know they (because I did too) ask “well what makes the bible true?” ” What makes this whole thing about Jesus true (mostly explained above)?” The bible is the only religious book that does not contradict itself. It contains 2500 propehecies, 2000 of which have already been fulfilled to the letter. Don’t take my word for it, research it on your own…find the truth yourself, don’t take ANYONE elses word for it. But I do promise you, that every question you have and answer you find will lead you to the same thing… Jesus Christ.”

Does anyone find it ODD that there is no mention of the Roman Catholic Church, Lutheran, Anglican, Episcopalian, Jehovah Witness, Seventh Day Adventist amongst others, which should be listed?  I do.  To me this is presenting “Christianity” in the broadest terms possible, leading me to think there’s a hint of ecumenical compromise.

      What are your thoughts?

Now here is something he wrote concerning division and doctrine:

“GET REAL(posted on April 26, 2011) by Matt Moore

“Doctrines of the Bible don’t cause division. Differences of opinion don’t cause division. Preferences don’t cause division. PEOPLE CAUSE DIVISION. It doesn’t matter what your take is on speaking in tongues, election, worship, or anything else. Our genuine faith in Jesus Christ is what should always tie us together.”

“Every day I see subliminal posts arguing different stances on different issues in the Church. I’ve been guilty of it myself! But to be honest, it really doesn’t matter what believers disagree about if it doesn’t affect the centrality of our Faith and the commandment Jesus has given us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28). Stand for what you believe in, but not at the expense of alienating or casting out other true believers that may not think just like you do. There is only One who is perfect; only One who is always 100% right; and that is God, not any human being.”

“What we need to understand is not a single one of us even has the remote capability to “redefine the church”. You can’t even breathe on your own or make your own heart beat; how in the world do you think you are going to do anything for God? The Holy Spirit is the only One who is capable of doing the will of the Father. And He will do the will of the Father, regardless of your personal input or involvement. He is the only One that changes people’s hearts. He is the only One that brings unity. He is the only One that brings peace. He is the only One that brings power. Not you or I!”

“Want to make a difference? Forsake ignorance and indulge yourself in the Word of God. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and work through you on behalf of the will of God. Because that is the only way you will ever be used by God. He’s not interested in our personal agendas; no matter how “godly” we may think our plans are. The Holy Spirit will only act on what the Father wants; and will always, in all cases, glorify Jesus Christ. He will not glorify us or esteem us. The Holy Spirit will always unite true believers whose hearts have been so radically changed that their only desire is to make much of Jesus. Always.”

“How do we redefine the church?”

“1) GET REAL and stop thinking that our personal ability & human intelligence is capable of doing anything for God.”

“2) Drown ourselves in the Word of God.”

“3) Submit completely to the will of God”

“4) Pray for the Spirit of God to move so heavily that the world cannot help but acknowledge the fact that Jesus Christ is ALIVE.”

I find there is so much error in this writing, from a biblical standpoint, it will take time to break it down and reveal why none of this comes from a Godly point of view, meaning what the Lord’s Word has to say about this.

The first scripture that comes to my mind is…....Luk 12:51  Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
Joh 7:43  So there was a division among the people because of him.
Joh 7:16  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17  If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Joh 7:18  He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
2Ti 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2Jn 1:9  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2Jn 1:11  For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

      Matt unfortunately does not see that he is being swept into the false teachings by the many teachers he supports.  I have also discovered that Matt does support and promotes on his Facebook page,  Matt Chandler pastor of the Village Church, and recently elected President of Acts 29, which was founded by Mark Driscoll.  Matt Chandler promotes and supports ‘The Jesus Manifesto’ written by New Ager Leonard Sweet and Frank Viola***.  Here is a direct quote from Matt Chandler found on the ‘Jesus Manifesto’ web-site;

“There cannot be enough books written about the majesties and excellencies of Christ. To see Jesus as He is will transform us from one degree or glory to the next. Everything is about Him, for Him and to Him. I am grateful that Frank and Leonard did the work and are putting this in the lap of so many.
Matt Chandler, Lead Pastor, The Village Church.”

*** Just a note regarding Frank Viola, the Lord revealed to me back in 1999 when I was given a book written by him titled: “Rethinking the Wine Skin” that Frank was not a Christian and his book was not inspired by our Lord.  FRANK VIOLA PRACTICES CORRUPT CONTEMPLATIVE/CENTERING PRAYER and has been doing it for over 20 years.  That is a New Age concept!***

Since when are we told by the Lord and His Apostles that we are to make disciples of Jesus Christ at the cost of  the truth……….never!  I pray the Lord will have mercy upon Matt Moore, and lead him out of this horrible trap he is in, and draw Matt closer to Himself and teach him His ways, for Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Here is a sobering warning from our Dear Lord and Saviour: Mat 7:26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The Lord bless you all who live for His truth…….

Just a quick note… I noticed this exchange when it happened on
Matt’s blog and my take on it (for what ever it’s worth) was/is that
you are obviously an individual who knows a LOT of facts. In your replies you’ve tried to
present your understanding as completely and thoroughly as possible
which I think may have been percieved as being argumentative and
pushy. Personally I feel that you are being genuine, however, I have
also wondered (from time to time) if your personality might be one of “I’m
right and everyone else is wrong” Not just biblically speaking but, perhaps, on
any topic. It’s VERY easy to mis-understand intentions when not being
able to see gestures and vocal inflections, so maybe this is all it
is. I came away with the impression that Matt was trying to stop an
arguement. Hope this helps, I certainly don’t mean to belittle or
    insult! 🙂

Gene, it’s good to hear from you. Thank you for your comment. Due to me getting caught up into a cult, which taught ‘Kingdom Now teaching’, Manifested Sons of God, a woman lead the Fellowship, she was Pastor, Teacher, Prophet. Due to our fellowship being raided, certain individuals with photos splattered on the front page of newspapers, and the woman being arrested, and later found guilty and sent to prison for 6 months. I fell away into my old life for a good 6 years or so due to the shock of what happened and me leaving the group, and the guilt I felt for leaving, I literally thought I was a Judas, and that my whole christian experience was a lie. But after moving to a different local and putting several hundred miles between me and them, the Lord eventually brought me back unto himself.

I said all this because it took the Lord years to deal with the deep scares that experience left me with, but also, what I suffered due to the false teachings, and the ‘charismatic’/pentecostal type churches, I sought out due to those teachings. But step by step the Lord used good basic teachers through their books, one person really, and through certain Christian people, and reading my Bible the Lord with the guidance of His Holy Spirit eventually started to strip away the false teachings and it’s effects, and taught me how to keep ‘scriptures’ in context. For it’s easy for a discussion to fall into ‘subjective’isms’. I guess you can call me sort of Fundamentalist now, but I’m not comfortable with ‘titles’, I’m just a follower of my Lord and Saviour. Anyway, (I am getting to my point really). I know what the affects of false teaching does, it’s extremely subtle and slippery, with mixed messages within it’s context. It can say one thing, and yet be stating another, so yes I get very detailed in breaking it down, why, it’s because that is how the enemy does it, and he will use our emotional attachments and feelings to deceive us.

But I’m not in it to win the argument for “me”, it truly is for the other’s too see, as the Lord gives them the grace to understand. I just want to make sure I am faithful in standing for the Lord’s word, for there was no-one there for me when I caught up in the mess I did. Mind you we didn’t have the resources to know about these things like we do now. But in the 1990’s there were many who started pointing out “why” and how deception started to take root.
Bottom line I don’t want anyone to suffer as I suffered, some like Matt may have too,
But one thing for sure, I knew the RC Church was never a good and rightful religion since I was a child, I grew up with some Baptist background.
Hope that gives some explanation as to why it may seem I need to be right, when I just want to present what I’ve been taught is the correct way to view the Lord’s scriptures.

I don’t know all things pertaining to the Lord’s perfect will in many issues, but what I do know, I will contend for the faith mightily. Because that is LOVE. But it’s possible I get pushy.. because I fear for the other person and where they’re heading.

Thanks the Lord bless you, hope to see you again.
